The Sun Devils turned over the roster so there is a bit of an unknown right now, but they still operate from a better starting point roster-wise than Colorado and Stanford.
Mandel : Arizona State is a complete wild card because Kenny Dillingham turned over the roster so extensively. But the Sun Devils could lose to either or both Oklahoma State and Fresno State before even getting to conference play. Morales : Under. If Colorado won four games this season, it would be a success.
Colorado might be at a talent deficit in 10 of its 12 games this season. Maybe Deion Sanders will surprise us all, but his unprecedented roster purge does not breed confidence that this will be a markedly better team. The Buffs may have no depth. Stanford will have less talent on its roster than any team it plays other than Hawaii and Sacramento State, and its game against Colorado is a tossup and on the road.

Oregon did suffer some attrition, especially on defense, but returns a solid quarterback and additional skill players. And the schedule sets up nicely, with a solid chance to start before an off week.
The path gets more perilous after that, as three of the next five games come against Washington, Utah and USC. OSU can definitely get to eight. But nine.

For years, I overrated USC, constantly picking them to exceed the inflated total, only to watch them stink. I finally changed course in , so of course they won double digits. But goddamn that vig. Utah Utes : 8. Utah returns a lot of production 16th-most , but that includes Cam Rising, whose rehab status is far from certain.
The Utes will beat a bad Florida team, but that trip to Waco is much more perilous. All we hear about is how Washington is the odds-on favorite to at least play for the conference title. Sure there are holes, particularly in the secondary, the offense is strong enough to win any shootout. So there you have it, real honest to goodness college football talk in May!
Things were going so well. WSU struck first, and second, taking a lead. Then everything went to hell and Cal scored two touchdowns, along with two 2-point conversions. Remember those 45 seconds when the Cougs were in the Top 25. All odds from BetMGM. All bets are to win 0. Did I mention that offense rules this conference?
Jedd Fisch had the Wildcats playing pretty well on that side of the ball last year and they return a lot of production. This offense projects inside the top 25 for me heading into this season. Only up from here, though, right. The reason is the defense. Alex Grinch, somehow, remains the defensive coordinator and until the Trojans prove that they can consistently get stops, my projections will see them as average at best.
The loss of Dalton Kincaid will be a big one, but all this Utah football program does is win games. My projections have Utah as easily the most balanced team in the conference top 25 on both offense and defense and the Utes certainly have a good coaching staff to get the most out of this squad. Florida comes to town in Week 1, but Utah is currently more than a touchdown favorite in that game.
