Stunning win over No. 17 TCU has Colorado more confident than ever. "Now, everybody wants to believe," Deion Sanders colorado va tcu. Op-Ed: College football talking heads have lost their minds over Colorado vs. TCU. The overreactions have been strong with very little facts. Colorado beats No. 17 TCU in back-and-forth shootout, coach Deion Sanders' debut. (Sep 2, ) Final Score - ESPN.
Is Colorado vs TCU on TV? The TCU Horned Frogs play on Saturday at 12:00 PM ET against the Colorado Buffaloes at Amon G. Carter Stadium. Go to FOX to see this game live.
Sidenote: I actually went back and watched that game and virtually every single big play TCU had was the result of a lack of athleticism. At Tarleton State yeah, I had to look that up , at home against an eventual Oklahoma team, at home against a Iowa St team, and then the shocker of the CFB Playoff, when they somehow put up 51 points on Michigan.
But they were still decimated by Georgia to the tune of Sonny Dykes is a quality coach in his own right. The Frogs, however, are breaking in a new offensive coordinator. So, what they have is a good head coach and two coordinators that essentially run what Dykes tells them to run. Coach Prime has an offensive coordinator that was Kent State's head coach last year. Sean Lewis was responsible for the most electric offense in college football.
Oh, and Sanders' defensive coordinator was picked away from Alabama. We won't go into position coaches, but rest assured that Prime built up a staff of high-quality personnel. I was just curious, did Lewis have a better outing against the champs while at Kent State. Not only did his offense answer the call, but the defense held up better than TCU.
What stats are they breaking down. That is somewhere between underwhelming and a little above average. That should be no secret at this point. The Wildcats barely put up 20 on the Tide. But the system is still the system. College Football has an issue that needs to be rectified at least by those that cover the sport, if not the fans that follow that sport.
Any type of realistic projections or rankings have not been a thing for a very long time. Week 1 of last year, No. Colorado va tcu In week 2, top-ranked Alabama beats unranked S. Carolina by one point. Also, in the same week, No. And for whoever watched 21st-ranked BYU beat 9th-ranked Baylor, , it was a drama-filled game.
It happens almost every week. How many times does a team outside the top 15 end up in the playoff hunt. The root of this issue comes from people overvaluing and undervaluing details. For example, TCU is not a completely new team. But deducing that newness equals inexperienced is flawed. Colorado has more players that have faced real competition with more Power Five experience than TCU does.
The newness in this regard is not a negative. With all that being said, what is a realistic projection. I have no issue with TCU having a slight home field advantage on the betting line. Even now, mere days away from CU and TCU kicking off, the game should at this point, almost be a tossup.
What I did expect to see though, is some sense of analytical objectivity. However, that is something we cannot come to expect from most college football analysts in this current landscape. I expect this game to be closer than people think early on. Unless Shedeur runs for his life, I expect a Colorado win. Defensively, two-way star Travis Hunter — who had 11 catches for yards on offense — produced a touchdown-saving tackle and an interception on the goal line while CU safety Trevor Woods also ended a TCU scoring threat with an interception in the end zone early in the game.
But despite Colorado's spectacular offensive output, the game came down to the defense needing to produce a game-winning stop — and they delivered. After the Buffs took a lead on a yard Sanders-to-Edwards scoring pass on fourth-and-2 with to play — the sixth lead change of the second half — CU's defense stopped the Frogs on downs to clinch the win.
I always had confidence because I knew as long as we had the ball, Shedeur was gonna get us down there. But we just needed to stop. Until that point, the game had hung in the balance. While Colorado took the lead early and extended its edge to 10 points early in the second half, TCU didn't go away quietly. The Frogs — who finished with yards offense — took their first lead late in the third quarter on a yard scoring pass from Chandler Morris to Dylan Wright.
The two teams then traded the lead four more times before the Buffs put their final score on the board, then came up with the defensive stop to clinch the win. It truly was. The Buffs got a three-and-out from their defense on the game's opening possession, then took over and drove 73 yards in 13 plays for a touchdown. Shedeur Sanders was excellent on the drive, completing seven passes on the march as Colorado kept the Horned Frogs defense on its heels.
CU converted three third downs on the march, the first a 9-yard pass from Sanders to tight end Michael Harrison and the second an Anthony Hankerson 8-yard run. The third put the Buffs in the end zone when Sanders connected with a wide open running back Edwards, who snuck out of the backfield undetected for a 4-yard touchdown and Colorado lead.
And we see that in practice, all the time. CU's defense then came up with its first big play of the game. The Horned Frogs took the kick and drove deep into Colorado territory, threatening to put their first points on the board and grab some momentum. Instead, CU's Woods read Morris perfectly on a throw to the end zone, stepping in front of a receiver at just the right moment for an interception to end the drive.
The two teams then traded scores after CU had a field goal blocked, with Colorado breaking a tie with a yard scoring march. Sanders completed six passes on the drive and Sy'Veon Wilkerson toted the ball in from the 2-yard line for a CU lead. Now, we get to see what five-star recruit Cormani McClain can do as teams will look to go after him first since he is the unproven commodity at the moment.
Shilo Sanders and holdover Trevor Woods will be tasked with laying the boom on TCU, but they will also have the opportunity to find some air-mailed throws land in their hands. We get to see that work for the first time. Prime's Island. Well Off Media. COM SI. In this story:. Schedule Full Schedule. Latest Buffaloes News.
