He was eventually relegated to the bench and would become the longtime backup quarterback for Drew Bledsoe. Casino euro bonus Zolak received some garbage time play over the years but did start three games from to While he didn't light up the scoreboard, he was far from an offensive starter and had some solid stats before leaving the team in Brian Hoyer was on the New England Patriots for the majority of his career, in multiple stints.

While he's bounced around other teams, he mostly sat on the bench for Bill Belichick. While a solid starter for other teams, he's incredibly only started two games for the Patriots. That sole start came in , a loss to the Kansas City Chiefs. While he didn't look great in his only start, Hoyer has still played solid when coming off the bench and is reportedly the ideal passer to have in the film room.

That's perhaps why he signed with the Raiders prior to the season back when Josh McDaniels was their head coach. Remember when Bailey Zappe was hyped to the moon for a few weeks. In the season, with Mac Jones injured, Zappe was promoted to the backup role behind Hoyer, who also got hurt on the first drive in their early-season matchup with Green Bay.

Being thrust into your NFL debut against Aaron Rodgers isn't exactly ideal, but Zappe played very well in relief of Hoyer, and almost pulled off the upset in a loss. Zappe started the next two games for New England, winning in both his starts, beating the Lions and Browns respectively. He was relegated back to the second string following Mac Jones' return, but came on in relief for Jones on Monday Night Football against the Bears.

Zappe led the Patriots on back-to-back touchdown drives, but the Bailey balloon deflated rapidly after that, as the Bears dominated the rest of the game and Zappe found himself back on the bench. Zappe was cut after New England's training camp in , but re-signed with the team soon after and came on relief of Jones several times this season, eventually finishing as the starter.

While he wasn't expected to start in his rookie season, he shockingly beat out Cam Newton to earn the starting job. Jones played well in his rookie season, and led the team to the playoffs. Following the year, he was named to the Pro Bowl and made the All-Rookie team. It was an uphill battle for Jones since his rookie year, which could be blamed on questionable moves on the Patriots' coaching staff Joe Judge and Matt Patricia as co-offensive coordinators?

It seems the Patriots will be going back to the drawing board after this season, both at quarterback and perhaps massive changes are afoot at the organizational level. Jacoby Brissett has mostly been a backup in his time with the NFL, but has had some opportunities to serve as a starter, to varying success.

However, before that time, he was riding the bench in New England Patriots in Despite being the third-sting quarterback, he was forced into two starts that year as Tom Brady was suspended. Brissett played well in those two starts, leading the team to a record. However, he showed enough flashes to earn a starting job the following year in Indianapolis. His time as a starter is now over, but he has managed to land some backup roles, most recently with the Browns, Dolphins and Commanders.

It was going to be hard to replace Tom Brady when he left the team in However, the Patriots decided to make a gamble, and that gamble was to sign the recently released Cam Newton. The former MVP had suffered from injuries over the last few seasons. The gamble didn't exactly pay off. While Newton showed flashes, he only lasted one season in New England due to inconsistent play.

He finished the year throwing eight touchdowns to 10 interceptions, and 12 rushing scores. Newton's career just hasn't gotten going again, as he had a brief return to Carolina in but was not re-signed after the season. Patriots qb history Jimmy Garoppolo was seemingly appointed to be Tom Brady's successor when drafted in
